The Year of the GOAT- Greatest of All Trips
Travel website, Expedia, is calling 2023 the year of the GOAT. They surveyed and found that 65% of travelers that responded are planning to ‘go big for their trip this year. After years of waiting for the world to get back to ‘normal’, finally, travel restrictions are starting to lift.
The biggest travel trend of this year is the idea of visiting epic locations, exciting tours, and loosening the purse strings, and honestly why not? Many have been fortunate to save while being cooped up, experiencing the world through Zoom calls.
Let’s take a look at just a few of the top GOAT locations this year!
Tuscany, Italy
One of the biggest searches for this year is the gorgeous countryside of Italy, Tuscany. Although not a new favorite, Tuscany has drawn tourists over the years for its Chianti wines, delicious dishes, and truly gorgeous vistas of rolling vineyards.
A top attraction is, of course, wine tasting and tours. In the spirit of letting loose, wine tours are the perfect way to learn about the region’s wines while also getting a little bit of a buzz. While you’re on the tasting tours there’s a unique truffle hunting and tasting tour like no other.
You can take in the history while wandering the streets of the ancient city of Lucca or simply relax in a Tuscan Villa. Lastly, but certainly not least, The food. Italy is a beloved food all around the world and Tuscany is no different. Here you’ll taste authentic traditional dishes like bistecca alla Fiorentina, Pappardelle, and Castagnaccio.
The Bahamas
With crystal clear waters and long stretches of white sandy beaches, it seems natural that the Bahamas is one of the tops on the list. The Bahamas hospitality industry is focusing on the more affluent traveler providing luxury options and hassle-free traveling, providing packages.
Travel resorts, cruises, and ocean-front villas give guests the much-needed rest and recuperation they need. If adventure is what you seek, the Bahamas is not lacking in adventurous activities. Just a few options include island hopping, jet skis, jeep adventures, snorkeling, diving and so so much more!
If your venue goes into the towns, beyond the resorts, tourists can absorb the vibrant local food and culture. Conch- a famous stewed fish dish is a must-try as well as rock lobster.
Cuba
Since Cuba has fully opened up to tourists, the tourism industry is bombing, providing visitors with unique and authentic experiences of life in Cuba. When visiting Cuba, often tourists feel like they’ve stepped back into the 50s. Old-fashioned cars in colorful colors cruise the streets.
Convertible Cadillacs try tourists around Havana, the cultural center of Cuba. Here museums, palaces, churches, and even fortresses are kept in pristine position among the colorful French colonial-style buildings.
If you’re a foodie, Cuba has an abundance of traditional dishes, a favorite being Lechon Asado, roasted pork so tender it falls apart. Lechon Asado is served with the quintessential Cuban sauce made from garlic, vinegar, and Cuban seasonings.
Hopefully, this has helped give you a little inspiration to go big or go home!
